matt makes stuff
I’ve created a Steam curation group called “Instant Text in RPGs”, for the purposes of identifying which games on the platform display text instantly, rather than displaying it one character at a time in the manner of a teletype display (TTY) or teleprinter. “No more TTY” is the group’s motto, nickname, and URL. As the name of the group implies, it’s mostly focused on roleplaying games (specifically the Japanese and Console style) but I’ll cover as many text-heavy games as I can. If this is something that interests you, you can find the group on Steam and find the games I’ve curated so far on the curator page. If you have suggestions for games to include, please let me know.
This is something I’ve felt strongly about for years, and it’s only recently that I’ve discovered that it’s okay to have strong feelings about things nobody else cares about. All of my future gripes on this subject should be quarantined to the group page, although I might write more about game UX in general in the future.
